7th June 2013
Windsurfing: Felixstowe dip Wind Direction: NE Wind Stength: F5 Surf / Sea State: flat to swell Air Temperature: warmish Sea Temperature: cool Weather: fine Max Speed: 26.04 (knots - unless stated otherwise) Distance Covered: 15.79 nm (Nautical Miles - unless stated otherwise)
5th consecutive day we had F5 at Felixstowe from the North East, using
either 6.5 or 7.5.
Arrived 4.0pm yet again rigged 6.7 H2 / 120L Excite ride Pro driven by 44cm
MFC Liquid pro fin. Not impressed with the MFC Freeride fins really as they
spin out when you ask the questions…
The sea was bumpy at the inside then flat for a 100M then huge waves going
thru the river mouth out to Bawdsey side. Several sailors out enjoying the
conditions, although bumpy at times on the low tide, it was
controllable.
The wind increased by 5.30 so had to fin down and downhaul/outhaul to stay
on 6.7.
Went over to the speed strip side, but turned back before as the sea was
too messy there and wasn’t for me. Went back to the dip and played with
Neil and co.
Great evening riding off big swells cracked several planing gybes on them.
Wind eased by 6.30 again, but totally knackered after covering 15.79nm top
speed on the open sea 26.04 kts
The North shoxs extension again took the sting out of the bumps on the
inside. Weird sensation though as the suspension was bottoming out as
hitting the bumps at speed was too much for it. I guess another 12mm
resistance travel would be better for heavy guys as I lost control when the
nose recoiled after bottoming out, and went flying over the top!
Finished off the evening with sauna, chicken jalfrezzi and beer…it
don’t get any better.
Roll on Saturday….
